“If Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in dark rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive electronic music.”
Marcus Brigstocke
This week I decided to play my first game on my iPhone. Exciting stuff I know; but hey I warned you, not every week can be a big adventure. I often see people playing games on their phones but somehow I’ve never done it myself. In truth, I guess I take a certain pride in that fact. In my mind, it’s not unlike how I’ve never followed reality television or gotten a tattoo or some other popular thing. I somehow feel like that sets me apart from the crowd; but that’s crap really.
Not sure where to start Emrys suggests 2048, a game that seems to be popular at the moment and is free and easy to download. The basic idea of 2048 is that you move tiles around with arrow keys. Each time 2 tiles with the same number touch, the numbers are added and the two tiles merge. Your goal is to produce the magic number of 2048.
I start off cautiously but soon relax into the game, employing my usual game strategy: quick gut reactions free of strategic forethought. The whole thing has a Tetris feel to it and I have to admit it’s very relaxing and an enjoyable way to unwind.
The question is, what game do I need to try next?

2014/03/31 at 2:31 amGreat thing to try!! I’ve got LOADS of games and I find I use them to decompress, ie. put my brain into zombie-mode. So, a fun one is Plants vs. Zombies -I ended up buying it, but the free version has loads of gameplay time. I suggest the “original” free version and not part 2. A really famously addictive and annoying one is Candy Crush, though I prefer its less popular but equally fun sister, Jelly Splash. 🙂
